My Workout Gear, Protein Supplement, and Gym

I would like to share with you my favorite workout gear that I bring to the gym everyday <3

Gym Clothes: I normally get my gym clothes from Nike and Cotton On – mostly from Cotton On just because it is relatively cheaper and they have amazing designs! I get almost all of my cropped training sports bra sand sports leggings from Cotton On and I love them!
Gym Bag: This is a new gym bag that I just purchased from Nike. I know it is huge haha since I normally go to the gym in the morning before work and I have to bring my work clothes and shoes to change, as well as 3 of my meals to eat at work (I eat the other 2 meals: Breakfast and Dinner mostly at home). As I have stressed over it again and again, meal preparation is the most important part of my fitness journey! Abs are made in the kitchen


Nike Sneakers: I have gotten quite a few questions on the model of my shoes since I posted this pic on Instagram so I looked it up and it is 2014 Womens WMNS Nike Free Run 2 (Total Crimson Bight Mango 536746-800). Hope that helps!

Protein Shaker: To answer many of your questions of whether I take supplements: I do drink Whey Protein Isolate after each of Kayla’s resistance training. The brand that I drink is Gold Standard 100% Whey from Optimum Nutrition. My boyfriend has been drinking Whey Protein Supplement way longer than I have and he has tried many of the flavors, he recommended me to try Double Rich Chocolate – and it was a damn good choice. I LOVE IT IT IS SO YUMMY. It has become one of my motivations during each of the workout – to push myself through it so I will deserve a Double Choco Protein Shake afterwards! One thing to bear in mind ** many people I know did get breakouts on their skins after drinking protein shake so they had to stop - I was lucky enough not to have this problem. I would suggest any of you who are thinking about whether to start taking protein shake to do more research on your skin type and also to try it for a week or two first before you buy a whole huge tub of protein powder!

Sometimes if I have time, I would blend the protein powder with fruits/ yogurt/ homemade almond milk (recipe will be posted) to make a yummy protein smoothie for myself. NOM!

As you can see from above, I do eat (and love) Quest Bars ! I eat them when I want to cheat clean ;p and they are also an awesome source of protein (with only less than 2g of sugar per bar). My favorite flavors would be Berry Mix!

Many of you have asked me whether I do my workouts at home or at the gym - I mostly do them at the gym. I am weirdly obsessed with the gym (For those in Hong Kong, if you are interested in knowing, I go to Pure Fitness Langham http://www.pure-fitness.com/en/hongkong/ . I have been going to Pure for years and I feel like home there <3 ).

To me, I find motivation, determination, drive, dedication and hard work whenever I look around me at the gym and this is the main reason that I prefer doing my workouts tat the gym. And of course, my home does not have many of the equipments that the BBG requires such as benches and weights so I also kind of have to do them at the gym ;p

  1. I love your work out gear! I totally recommend Lorna Jane stuff if you ever feel like splurging- it's a bit higher quality than Cotton On and more expensive, but worth it if you work out a lot!

    You've been such an inspiration and your advice is so so relevant to me (I live in Singapore and the lifestyle/dietary choices are kinda similar), definitely useful! Just wanted to ask though, do you feel self concious in the gym while working out? Especially with so much equipment for Kayla's workouts and the guide?

      Yes I do find it rather...awkward when I work out at the gym :/ Especially when I think about having to use bench and the low steps in the later weeks of Kayla's guide (which I don't have at home).

  7. I need your advice, should I start using preworkout supplements for muscle building? Actually I have gained weight so I want to reduce quickly to get proper shaped muscles. Please give your suggestions as I really need to get perfect shape by next year.

    1. It depends on your goals and your body condition - for me I take post-workout supplements for muscles toning and it works very well for me so far - but then again everyone's body is different and you can try to see if the results are also effective for you xx

  47. Thanks for sharing your insights about Weigh proteins. I'm a protein drinker as well and its very difficult to find a weigh proteins which has no or 0 side effects. I have been taking GNC weigh proteinsfor some time and I must say the results are incredible and I did not come across any side effects. Then again everyone's body is different and the reaction to weigh gains are different.
